a few.The Islamic State has ambitions to circumvent free speech and the internet with the formation of a cyber caliphate designed to impose censorship upon all citizens of the world. In retaliation to these unforgivable crimes we have decided to engage the Islamic State.
We have not taken this action lightly nor the possible consequences however we can no longer wait for the governments of the world to respond while humanity suffers. These acts of brutality and censorship are inexcusable and will not be tolerated.
We appreciate those few in government whom still hold principles and believe that it is everyone's responsibility to uphold human rights at all costs however we as a collective are sworn to protect the right to free speech against all those who would seek to destroy it though murder and intimidation.
To date Anonymous and Ghost Security have taken offline over eighty websites of the Islamic State and supporting Nations that were used primarily to recruit more terrorism, fund and circulate their propaganda of hatred. Furthermore we have removed hundreds of terrorist social media accounts being used for communication of future attacks against civilized nations and will continue to do so until we have completely dismantled their digital infrastructure.
We fully understand that due to the actions we take we exclude ourselves from the system where solutions are to be found. There are individual's whom serve that purpose and are far more respectable than ourselves. These individuals voices come from the light and not the shadows and they will be heard.
Social media has changed the rules of the game. That is why we call upon you, students, teachers, activists, soldiers, parents, reporters, people from all over the world to unite and stand with us against this common threat. In order to achieve this our collective will be standing by to assist you in reaching this goal. It is time to wake up and not to sleep. A singular Facebook Trojan has already infected nearly 110,000 Facebook users

researcher is investigating in a new strain of Facebook Trojan that in
just two days has already infected 1110,000 Facebook users.
Social networks represent a privileged attack vector for malware-based attacks, a recent investigation conducted by by the security researcher Mohammad Faghani revealed the existence of a Trojan is circulating among Facebook users.
According to the researcher, the Trojan has already infected nearly
110,000 Facebook users in two days by spreading itself through malicious
link. Faghani explained that the Facebook Trojan spreads itself by posting links to a pornographic video from the account of unaware victims that have been previously infected.
The trojan tags the infected user's friends in an enticing post. When users open the post, the user will see a preview of a porn video which eventually stops and asks for downloading a (fake) flash player to continue the preview, unfortunately the bogus application is the downloader of the Facebook Trojan.
Faghani is still investigating on this Facebook Trojan and will provide further details via Full Disclosure in the next weeks.

Hacker ‘Messiah’ pleads guilty to 39 computer misuse charges
James Raj Arokiasamy, who goes by the moniker "Messiah", has

The 36-year-old had faced a total of 162 charges, of which 39 computer misuse charges and one charge for drug consumption were proceeded with. The remaining 121 charges will be taken into consideration for his sentencing. Deputy presiding judge S. Jennifer Marie adjourned sentencing to next Friday (Jan 30).
Today, a district court heard that James Raj performed a series of seven high-profile cyberattacks between March and November 2013, six of which were committed within a span of two months.
On Oct 17, 2013, he defaced a web page of the People’s Action Party Community Foundation (PCF) with a hooded figure accompanied by the word “HACKED”.
His other actions included illegally accessing and modifying content on servers of the Ang Mo Kio Town Council’s website, The Straits Times blogs, a fan site for popstar Sun Ho, who is also the wife of City Harvest Church’s founder Kong Hee, and Fuji Xerox. The Fuji Xerox hack attack compromised a server containing confidential data belonging to 650 of Standard Chartered Bank’s clients.
The attacks had stirred public anxiety, with government agencies raising vigilance after James Raj published an online video threatening that infamous hacker group “Anonymous”, which he claimed to be part of, would “go to war” with the Singapore Government.
Affected organisations spent about S$1.36 million to repair their computer systems, the court heard.
Deputy Public Prosecutor G Kannan said James Raj was a serial offender whose acts warranted a sufficiently severe sentence to deter re-offending.
“The offences involved a significant degree of premeditation and were committed in a highly sophisticated manner ... It was easy and will remain easy for him (to do it again),” said
Mr Kannan.
Defence lawyer M Ravi contended that the acts were “highly amateurish” and had not resulted in any physical damage or theft of intellectual property.
“(James Raj’s) acts helped to identify weaknesses in the networks which could have, in time, been destroyed by people with far more malicious intent,” Mr Ravi added.

The Myth of Ethical Hacking
Life can teach you a lot about security… It's a long drive through Kansas if you go the speed limit, and even if you don't. You watch farm buildings slowly, very slowly, get bigger and then you pass them and they get smaller and smaller until they're gone.The coast to coast trip had me living in my head, reliving angry conversations with all the things I should have said, and then feeling a twinge of smug justice for imagining having said it.
My mind raced from topic to topic. My stomach growled angrily at me. I had 38 hours to make it from Portland to New York, and I was surviving on a dangerous gourmet of protein, caffeine, and ephedrine.
A car behind me rode me as a radar shield for about a hundred miles until I had to suddenly get out of the way of a bolting deer and they didn't. Just grassy plains around us and I almost didn't see it.
I watched in the rear view mirror as the deer exploded in a stringy mess across their hood and the legless body did a flat-spin across the highway. I think on sight I instantly threw up in my lap, but nothing came out.
I slammed to a stop and pulled over to help them. The deer head remained lodged in their windshield. It was a young couple, and the woman from the passenger seat stepped out to survey the damage while the driver remained white-knuckling the wheel, frozen in shock.
So much space and so much visibility yet there was too little time to react to a threat. I didn't realize at the time that this would be a reoccurring theme in life.
One of the many wiser people than me once said, reacting is half of life. That sounds wiser than it actually is. Well now it does. Back then it seemed really profound to my nascent mind. And it impacted how I thought about security.
I thought reacting is what you did when you weren't secure.
And I thought ethical hacking was proactive, showing you could take
advantage of opportunities left by the stupid people who did the
security. So I thought ethical hacking was more than vulnerability scanning. I thought it was better.
I also thought ethical hacking and security testing were the same thing, because while security testing focused on making sure all security controls were there and working right and ethical hacking focused on showing a criminal could penetrate existing security controls, both were about proactively learning what needed to be better secured.
And I don't feel bad now about being wrong, because I wasn't alone in thinking that. An entire industry sprung up around ethical hacking as the means towards security which went on to dominate the first 15 years of the security scene in the new millennium. And while not really dominating any more, it hasn't lost much importance.
Ethical hacking, penetration testing, and red-teaming are still considered valid ways to improve security posture despite that they test the tester as much, if not more, than the infrastructure. Most people try to look at the positive side of that and say anything that can make security better is a good thing.
Then again nearly everything has a positive side we can see if we squint. And as a practical, shake-the-CEO-into-awareness technique, criminal hacking simulations should be good for fostering change in a security posture.
So somehow, ethical hackers with their penetration testing and red-teaming, despite any flaws, have taken on this status of better security than, say, vulnerability scanning. Because there's a human behind it? Is it artisan, and thus we pay more?
Now I'm not forging a golden statue for vulnerability scanning here. It also has a fatal flaw: It tests for known vulnerabilities. However, in great marketing moves of the world volume 1, that is exactly how they promote it. That's why companies buy it. But if an ethical hacker markets that they test only for known vulnerabilities, we say they suck.
But that's the myth of the ethical hacker, isn't it? Ethical hackers are supposed to be able to proactively enact all the threats which can attack, and so with that big field of vision they will help us react in time. So it is more than vulnerability scanning. It is better. Except when it isn't.
Now vulnerability scanning is indeed reactive. We wait for known flaws to be known, scan for them, and we then react to that finding by fixing it. Ethical hacking is indeed proactive. But not because it gives the defender omniscient threat awareness, but rather so we can know all the ways where someone can break in. Then we can watch for it or even fix it.
But does it really work that way? Isn't what passes for ethical hacking too often just running vulnerability scanners to find the low hanging fruit and exploit that to prove a criminal could get in? Isn't that really just finding known vulnerabilities like a vulnerability scanner does, but with a little verification thrown in?
Doesn't it then turn ethical hacking into something reactive in the guise of proactive? And is ethical hacking really able to find all the threats in all the ways it could possibly get in, or do they just stop with the first way because, you know, we set them up with a time limit and they really don't need to do more to “wow” their clients?
There's this myth that ethical hackers will make better security by breaking through existing security in complicated, sometimes clever ways that point out the glaring flaw(s) of the moment for remediation. But we know that all too often it's just vulnerability scanning with scare tactics. And when there's no way in, they play the social engineering card.
One of the selling points of ethical hacking is the skilled use of social engineering. Let me save you some money: It works. You don't need to pay someone to manipulate an employee with some tricks when you haven't put any proper tactics down to eliminate that attack channel and then be shocked that it works.
It will work. And hanging up posters that say think twice before you click twice doesn't cut it as a functional tactic. If you want functional security awareness, you need to change how employees work , not just what they're aware of. Just like you can be aware that you can drown, that won't help you swim – when the river rises, you'll drown.
So if ethical hacking as it's done is a myth and we don't get a bigger view of the threats, why don't we just run vulnerability scanners?
While both are, in practice, reactive, the vulnerability scanners currently don't do the one thing that ethical hackers can do, which is determine all the places where a threat, any threat, could successfully attack because you have no security or the wrong security there.
It's not that they can't. They just don't see a market for it. And they won't see a market for it until their customers ask for it.
Since a vulnerability scanner is a machine, and machines are better than humans at consistent, repetitive work, they could enumerate more than just known vulnerabilities, but also all the places there are no security controls.
That's an OSSTMM thing. It's done in security testing. But it could be put in a vulnerability scanner and be part of vulnerability management because it would increase your ability to react to threats in time.
It won't tell you all the threats, in what shape they come in, or what animal they'll ride in on, but it will tell you that if a threat is going to come then this is where we should watch for it. This is where we should put operational security controls. Because we know we really can't truly react in time.
OSSTMM is a powerful, ugly creature that you should learn to love. And you don't need to buy the cow, because this milk is free. You should make sure you get it in your penetration tests and you should get it in your vulnerability scans because if you don't, you're not buying security, you're only buying into the myth.
